English Summary

Welcome to the Webpage of the “155+” project - a joint initiative of the Emergency Medical Service - Central Bohemian Headquarters, S.E.N.A company and Charles University in Prague. “155+” stands for Enhanced Emergency Dispatch Support, as the medical emergency number is 155 in the Czech Republic.
The project aims to prepare and set up a post-graduate learning module for medical emergency dispatch operators, with possible extension to other security and emergency services.
Our motivation is that today, no specific education exists for people operating dispatch centers of emergency services. By law, ambulance dispatch center operators have the qualification of resuscitation nurses (sestra v intenzivni peci) or emergency practitioners (diplomovany zachranar). This education contains no psychology and communication trainings, no operational and tactical command trainings, no knowledge od personal social services network nor other essential education for such a different practice from clinical nursing.
Furthermore, this problem is strengthened by a radical change in emergency calls portfolio, as in past two decades we see less injuries and life-threatening situations and more calls related to social status of the patient, e.g. drug abuse, prostituion, domestic violence, criminal background, or simply psycho-somatic health issues. The operators are hardly able to offer appropriate response to these calls as the system offers only a medical treatment and transport to hospital.
See a presentation of the project framework.
Project “155+” is supported by the European Social Fund and Czech national budget.
